Concrete core test is one of the commonly used method to test the actual properties of concrete in existing structures. It is cut by the means of rotary tool and is sent to the lab. Various properties of the concrete can be determined from the test such as the strength and density, depth of concrete carbonation, chemical analysis, etc.
Coring test gives a more direct assessment on strength and provides a more accurate evaluation than other non-destructive tests. Upon cutting, the cylindrical specimen is obtained and inspected to note on the compaction, aggregate distribution, and the arrangement of steel reinforcements.
